Programme

Seminars

Short seminars for clinicians, health researchers, policymakers and students on how data science can improve health.

Seminars are sessions of one to two hours. They show why data science matters for health and how people can use it. The following activities are involved:

  • Meeting medical schools and clinicians to learn what they need and how data science tools can support health decisions. In the first year the institutions are Aga Khan University, Kenyatta University Hospital, and Kenyatta Hospital. More hospitals will be added in later years. The aim is to find clinicians who want to apply data science in their work and join the workshops and training.
  • Sharing the programme through this Eneza website, short videos, blog posts, and partner accounts, including DSI, EANBiT, and the Bioinformatics Hub of Kenya (BHKI). BHKI has more than 1,500 followers, and its members come from many institutions in Kenya. The aim is to raise awareness of data science for health and to encourage students to join postgraduate programmes in the DSI consortium.
  • Using these seminars to introduce open science, data governance, and ethics.
