Internships

The demand for well-trained data scientists will continue to grow. Unfortunately, undergraduate training in Kenya does not prepare students for specialisation in health data science. Graduates are not aware of the career opportunities in health data science, and those who do lack mentors to help them choose a specialisation. The Health Data Science Mentorship and Incubation Program seeks to bridge the gap by laying the foundation for a data science training pipeline using project-based learning. Interested participants undergo an intensive open recruitment exercise to recruit six highly competitive students to join the program for six months. The six interns undergo intensive training within the first one and a half months before being assigned to mini projects. We will track the interns' progress weekly through code review sessions and a final presentation at the end of the six months

Call for ENEZA Health Data Science Internship at ICIPE

Application Deadline– November 1, 2024 - 23:59Hrs (EAT)

The ENEZA Data Science Incubation and Mentorship program is an internship that targets recent graduates interested in data science for health. This program prepares recent graduates with knowledge and skills to support data science research in health and as potential candidates for the DSI-Training Program MSc programs, filling a critical gap always overlooked in recruitment. We note that the demand for well-trained data scientists in health research will continue to grow as the use of electronic data grows, including data from the DSI-Africa research hubs. Unfortunately, undergraduate training in Kenya does not prepare students for specialisation in health data science. Graduates are unaware of the career opportunities in health data science, and those who do lack mentors to help them choose a specialisation. The ENEZA Data Science Incubation and Mentorship Program seeks to bridge the gap by laying the foundation for a data science training pipeline using project-based learning.
