Residential Training

Residential training will have a critical focus on enhancing the skills, with a mini-group project at the end. We will train those from clinical settings with interests and some informatics in technical data science concepts. In contrast, data scientists and computer scientists will receive additional training in epidemiology and domain-specific skills needed to interpret the results of their data science models effectively. As the faculty section captures, local and international scholars (DSI-Africa and others) will facilitate this training. With experience in virtual training through the blended learning approach, EANBiT RT and H3ABioNet have used (15), we host some of the training virtually to attract international trainers and save on cost. For these, we will have local Teaching Assistants assisting in the physical classroom. This intensive training that brings various stakeholders together enables a cross-pollination of ideas and facilitates closer collaborations. For student participants, this will be an opportunity for linkages to projects, especially when we host students from the DSI training programs.
