Residential Training
Residential training that builds data science skills for clinicians and health skills for data scientists and ends with a small group project.
Clinicians who already have some informatics background learn technical data science. Data scientists and computer scientists learn epidemiology and the subject knowledge they need to interpret their results. Local and international scholars, including trainers from DSI-Africa, lead the sessions. Some of the training is online, using the blended approach already used by EANBiT and H3ABioNet, so international trainers can join without the cost of travel. Local teaching assistants support those online sessions in the classroom. Bringing these groups together helps people share ideas and start joint work. Students, including those from DSI training programmes, can also connect to projects.
